Treble from your Quad ESL-63 |
The Quad ESL-63 loses a lot of "high" treble
above 10,000 Hertz. |
This may come as a surprise to Quad ESL-63 owners,
so please look at the graphs on the right. |
Hi Fi Choice measured the Quad ESL-63
in 3 different ways,
to produce 3 different graphs. |
This proves that,
no matter how you measure the Quad ESL-63,
you will find that the Quad loses
about 5 dB of treble above 10,000 Hertz. |
So when, somebody complains of the "clothy" treble, their
ears are more sensitive to the missing 5 dB of "high" treble.
They are not "Quad bashing", so do not take it personally
!
Different people have different ears ! |
Modern speakers like £6,500 B&W Nautilus
802,
will produce graphs that are "flat" (within 2
dB)
from the upper bass to 20,000 Hertz. |
