to the 8 ohm load actually REDUCES  the NEGLIGIBLE ringing on 10 kilohertz square wave

KT88 valves can cope with much higher voltages, so we have a bigger margin of safety, and we can offer 2 years guarantee on the amplifier AND KT88 VALVES ! Why don't you ask sellers of 6550 amplifiers to give you 2 years guarantee on the cheaper 6550 valves ? We use EL34 valves in our cheaper models. Even the EL34 valves can cope with higher "screen grid" voltages than 6550 valves, used in £3,000 amplifiers !

Solid State Amplifiers

Transistor amplifiers are popular because they can be made and sold at affordable prices.
However, regardless of what is written in Hi Fi Magazines
about affordable transistor amplifiers or £3,000 transistor amplifier
that have have "sweet treble like a valve amplifier",
I have NEVER heard a "Class B" transistor amplifier
